Pleasing God Like a Man

By Bishop Wellington Boone  |   |  Category: ManHunt

I remember very clearly the moment that I knew I was saved because I was absolutely terrified! I had been a soldier in Vietnam, and I thought that was bad, but when the glory and presence of the living God filled my room I was so frightened of His power that I couldn’t move. I felt if I made one mistake He would kill me. I did not hear Him say anything. I just knew I was in His presence.

From that time on—more than 40 years ago—I knew that I was saved and that I wanted more than anything else to become accountable to God in everything. I remember crying hard and saying, “I just want to please you! I just want to please you!” That is what every man needs to do—just please God!

God’s goal is your Christ-likeness

Romans 8:29 KJV says, “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

When I was in that room alone with God, after I overcame the fear I was filled with a totally different emotion—joy! I was filled with joy that a holy God had accepted me and I could live for Christ instead of living for the devil as I had been doing for far too much of my life.

That is how I started the greatest adventure of my life. I learned how to become privately devout and develop an intimate relationship with God. Then I began to teach others how to change their lives, too. That became my ministry, and I have been ministering to others ever since.

Here are some questions to ask yourself as you walk on your life’s journey with God:

Am I truly saved?

Do I have a consciousness of sin and a quickness to repent?

Do I seek to know God and live a Christ-like lifestyle?

Do I pray and live sacrificially for others, as Jesus did?

Are people’s lives changed because I am there?

Do I have a contrite spirit toward God?

Am I totally devoted to a life given over to God?

Many people try to define what makes a man, but nothing is more important for a man than pleasing God.

Romans 11:36 KJV “For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.”
